Two new hires for Cornerstone Studios as Maureen MacPhee and Paula Campion join the team

Miroma Group’s future-facing TV production business specialising in programme and development finance, branded entertainment and production, Cornerstone Studios, has hired Maureen MacPhee as Director of Production & Commercial, and Paula Campion, who joins as Executive Producer, Development and Production, to help the company grow its client roster and its portfolio of programmes.

Maureen has 20 years industry experience and joins Cornerstone Studios from Nutopia, where she was overseeing projects for Netflix including; African Queens and Blood, Sex & Royalty by Jada Pinkett Smith. Maureen also brings with her a wealth of experience from her time at BBC Studios, Viacom and Top Hat, and she specialises in drama and high-end documentaries.

Commenting on her appointment Maureen said: “I’m very excited to be back working with the outstanding Cornerstone team, and I look forward to the creative and commercial opportunities that lie ahead.”

Grierson Award-winning, and three-time BAFTA nominated executive, Paula Campion, will be running Cornerstone Studios’ in-house development and production slate. Previous shows she has worked on are Tricks of the Restaurant Trade (Betty/C4), Kirstie & Phil’s Love It or List It (Raise the Roof/C4), and My Lottery Dream Home (Beyond/Discovery). Paula said of her appointment: “This is an exciting opportunity to not only create new, exciting and fun content, which we all need right now, but also to look at how we can fund it to fulfil the aspirations of the shows we are developing”.

Beren Money, CEO of Cornerstone Studios, commented: “It’s a privilege to welcome Maureen and Paula to the team. Their exceptional talent and wealth of experience will supercharge our work with Broadcasters and Indies to innovate the way TV content is produced and financed.”

Following research conducted by Broadcast’s Commissioner Survey that indicated a high percentage of commissioners are worried about the rising cost of production, or the need for additional funding to get commissioned, Cornerstone Studios CEO, Beren Money, saw an opportunity for a producer-friendly source of programme finance. Launching in 2021, as part of Miroma Group, Cornerstone Studios creates new opportunities in IP generation and distribution for both brands and broadcasters whilst specialising in programme and development finance, branded entertainment and production. In 2022 Cornerstone produced and financed a range of exciting shows such as Sky Arts’ Big Hay Weekend with Frank Skinner and has many more scheduled for 2023.
